Meet Stav Sakellaris, a seasoned photographer based in Melbourne with a knack for capturing the essence of commercial and corporate worlds. With over two decades of experience, Stav’s journey began at the age of 13 when his brother gave him an SLR, igniting a lifelong passion for photography.
“I started back in the film days and spent many days and weeks in a dark room developing images. I know film is back in, but I don’t miss those days and happy to develop images on a computer,” reminisces Stav, reflecting on his humble beginnings and transition into the digital era.
Driven by a desire to explore new horizons, Stav has expanded his expertise into cinematography in recent years, further enriching his creative repertoire.
Back in 2003, Stav established his own freelance commercial photography business. Supported by his dedicated assistant, David, Stav has cultivated a reputation for excellence, delivering captivating visual narratives.
“My favourite shoots are working with children, who can provide the biggest challenges but the best rewards. There are too many of those to choose just one,” shares Stav, emphasising his affinity for capturing authentic moments.
Stav refuses to confine his portfolio to a curated selection of favourites. Instead, he invites clients to explore the diverse range of styles and industries he has worked with, embodying a spirit of versatility and adaptability.
“I find working as a photographer provides me with my creative outlet and when the clients are happy with the results, it’s the best reward. I wouldn’t swap it for anything in the world,” affirms Stav, highlighting the fulfillment derived from his craft.
