About:

Kirsten Hines’s journey began under the vibrant hues of a rainbow in the Philippines, where her childhood friends and she chased an elusive pot of gold. This enchanting experience sparked a lifelong passion for nature and storytelling. “I’ve spent a lifetime seeking my version of gold in nature,” she reflects, a pursuit that has taken her across every continent, not merely to tick them off a list but to revel in the diverse beauty our planet has to offer.

With a master’s degree in biology, Kirsten is uniquely positioned to intertwine science with art. Initially intent on a career in biology, she soon realised her true calling lay in photography and creative writing. “I trained as a biologist… but I came to realise that the stories I wanted to tell were not in data, numbers, and statistics,” she shares. Now, as an accomplished author and wildlife photographer, Kirsten merges her scientific knowledge with her artistic vision, capturing nature in its most authentic form. Her photographs, grounded in her biological expertise, allow her to document the beauty of wildlife without interference, always respecting her subjects. “I rely on my biological skills to stalk the wildlife I photograph,” she explains, emphasising her ethical approach to nature photography.

Kirsten invites others to join her in seeking their own version of gold: “I hope that my words and images might inspire you toward the end of your rainbow, to the version of gold that you seek.”
